Daily Driver - 1982 Jaguar XJ6 - Available on Craigslist

There are few sedans that are prettier than the Series III XJ6. Even in US trim with the mandatory monster bumpers it was almost the perfect blend of sportiness and class.

The Series III was also, by Jaguar standards, remarkably reliable.

This XJ6 was listed on Craigslist late last year. I remember it well. What first caught my eye was the color. Yellow. I grew up in New York and usually when I see a yellow car, any yellow car, I think taxi. But for some reason, the Jag looks good in yellow. It's certainly different from the green and maroon ones you tend to see very often.

Anyway, the car turned up again on Craigslist this week. I e-mailed the seller and asked why. The answer was simple; someone put a deposit on it but was then unable to complete the deal. It happens.

The seller sent me some additional photos and, honestly, as far as I can tell the car is exactly as he described it. A good solid daily driver. There's a bit of rust on the passenger side front fender, but not much, and, as he mentions in the ad, it will need some exhaust work. If it was mine I'd get rid of the dark tint on the windows, but that tint may be the reason the interior is still in such nice shape. That's your call.

He's looking for a reasonable offer. If you're looking for a nice Series III Jaguar, one you can, and should, drive everyday, this may be the car for you.
