Quickies

1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sprint Speciale - There are 860 of these cars left in the world and within a week two of them turn up on eBay.

The car I wrote about earlier in the week needed some restoration and sold for $32,299.00. This one is restored and is being offered at $47,500.00.

I try not to post the same type of car twice within the same week, but a Sprint Speciale is so special (pun intended, I guess) and so cool, that I had to point this one out.

1977 Lotus Eclat - I've always liked the the Eclat. I know they're not as legendary as the Elan and not a supercar like the Esprit, but the Eclat was more practical than both of those.

OK,"practical" and "Lotus" never belong in the same paragraph, but the Eclat was as close to practical as you get in a Lotus. It sat 4 (although unless you're into to some sort of masochistic stuff, you really wouldn't want to be in the back for more than 2 or 3 minutes) and had enough space to carry whatever you needed to carry for a nice 3 day getaway.

Practical or not not, it's still a Lotus, which means it's fast, handles amazingly well and a lot of fun to drive.

UPDATE 4/9/09 - This Lotus is now being offered on eBay. Click here to see the listing.

1958 Facel Vega - Beatle Ringo Starr, artist Pablo Picasso and racer Stirling Moss owned Facel Vegas. Writer Albert Camus died in his. A beautiful French design and a Chrysler V8 made the Facel Vega a very desirable car.

The Facel Vega FV4 being offered on eBay has a Chrysler 5.4 liter engine it. The seller claims it is one of only 36 FV4s to come with that engine.

Being very rare and selling for $135,000.00, the Facel Vega is not the type of car you'd drive everyday, but it sure is great to look at.

1969 Riley Elf - So you always wanted a Mini, but you needed something with a trunk...

BMC had you covered with the Riley Elf. The Elf was a luxury Mini with a leather and wood interior and and an actual trunk (boot) on its backend. Underneath everything was standard Mini, which means this was a fun car to drive.
