Monteverdi 375/4 - You May Never See Another One

The seller says he's taking down the ad for this car in order to get more information.

I'm posting it just because this might be your one and only chance to see a Monteverdi for sale in North America. I have never seen one in person.

Somewhere between 10 and 30 of these cars were built. I have no idea how many survive.

In its day this was a very impressive, very expensive car. This one, quite obviously, needs a complete restoration.

Monteverdi is a fascinating company and, when the seller relists this car, I'll write a full post on it and include some Montverdi history.

Located in Clive, IA, click here to see the eBay listing.

This is what it's supposed to look like.

Saw one of these in the metal at a local car show - looks good on the outside, but the inside is "crude".

Wow! This is indeed a rare sight in the US. I prefer this to the Fidia featured in JACG many moons ago as you don't need a Tetanus shot to work on it.

On the other hand, you might spend many moons just searching out replacement spares for this vehicle. While TR6 tail lights are said to fit, finding a windshield is a totally different matter.

However, once sorted, throw in a crate motor and you would be well on your way to owning a "Thinking Man's Lagonda."

The car is from the glory years of Monteverdi. The product range in the years that followed was downright bizarre as I would hesitate to call the Monty Sierra, the "Thinking Man's Volare."

I've seen a restored Monteverdi before, there's a local Seattle guy Gordon Apker who is a local car collector and used to own the Shakey's Pizza chain and he would have an invitation only Open house at his property which is about a 10 minute drive from my house. One year I got an invitation via a friend of a friend of a friend and the theme that year was Exotic Italian cars, but there was a Black Monteverdi very similar to this one on E-bay at the show. It was an Amazing Car!
