1992 VW Passat Syncro Wagon

This is an interesting grey market car.

For whatever reason, VW decided not to sell the B3 Passat Syncro in the US. They sold a few in Canada however, and that's where this car came from.

The Passat Syncro used VW's 1.8 liter G60 engine. That's the same supercharged engine found in the Corrado. They were really fun engines, but were not known for their reliability. The owner of this car replaced the G60 with a 2.0 liter 4 from a Jetta.

This car is not perfect, but is a very good driver or project car. The A/C condenser has a hole in it and the transmission grinds a bit when shifting into second gear. The seller says it's fine if you shift gently. (Bad second gear synchro? This might be a perfect winter car for an Alfa owner. We're used to that!)

There are plenty of very good AWD cars available for the $4700.00 the seller is asking for this car. But, if you're a VW fan and want something very unique in the US, this car is worth checking out.

Located in Westchester, WI, click here to see the Craigslist ad.

Wow. Listing already deleted. Must've sold quickly.

Wow. That was quick. That's great for the seller, not so great for readers of this blog. Oh well.

LOL....between the phony Monaro and rapid-fire selling Passat it's been a tough week. :-)

Keep up the good work---you've had some real gems on here lately.
