1987 Honda Accord Aerodeck - A Truly Crave-Worthy Honda Accord

I don't ever often get excited by Honda Accords. This one is exciting.

The Aerodeck was never sent to North America.

It would be easy to call this a cross between an Accord Coupe and a Civic Hatchback. But the Aerodeck has some really neat touches that make it stand out...

Unlike the Civic Hatchback, the Aerodeck has a rear quarter window. It breaks up the flat plane of glass and gives the Aerodeck a less utilitarian look than the Civic Hatchback.

What really stands out is the rear hatch itself. The opening goes partially into the roof and it opens similar to a gullwing door. The hatch / roof panel is glass.

The Aerodeck was only sold in Japan and Europe. The seller calls this one a "Euro RHD", so I assume this was originally sold in the UK.

This car has just 29,750 miles on it. It appears to be in very, very nice condition.

It's RHD, which would take some getting used to, but if you're looking for a very cool, very unique, JDM car, this would be a perfect choice.

Located in Elko, MN, click here to see the Craigslist ad.

My email inbox was loaded with links to this car... Thanks to Colin, Jane, Dan, David, Tamerlane and Alan (who runs a very cool automotive blog called Auto Neurotic Fixation).

While I'd like to see more pics of this vehicle, it was interesting to learn about an Accord I had no knowledge of before. If only that shooting brake would have been sold here... OK, I know the sales would have been pretty bad, but still...

I used to travel to Japan frequently and always liked these. The real irritation was that Accords in Japan were fitted with DOHC engines (except for the base models).

We didn't see the DOHC engines until the Integras.

Used to see these in Germany when I was living there shortly after these were sold new. Now you can look out for such things as the Honda HR-V, which kind of foreshadowed that new Range Rover Evoq... 2-door looks kinda like a shooting brake, though.

Chris - Were the cars in Germany LHD?

Someone on another site saw this car still registered in Europe and noted that the plates and pictures don;t scream Minnesota.

Just a warning...
