1988 Volkswagen LT45 Firetruck

This is a VW LT45 firetruck. The seller says it was used at a European oil refinery.

VW introduced the LT (Lasten-Transporter) in 1975. Prior to this, the Type 2, which had been around since the 1950s and was limited by its rear engine platform, was VW's light commercial vehicle.

The LT was a front engine / rear wheel drive vehicle. Both gas and diesel engines were available. Peterbilt and Kenworth sold a Brazilian built version in the US as the Mid-Ranger.

This LT has a VW inline diesel 6 in it. As the seller mentions, it was also used by Volvo in the 240.

This truck has some rust and needs a few minor repairs. It has just 4800 kilometers on it. The seller says it has a speed limiter on it that limits its top speed to 50 MPH. He doesn't know if the fire fighting equipment works.

I have no idea what one would do with an old VW firetruck. But some people apparently have a plan for it... As I write this, 7 people have placed a total of 23 bids on it.

A big thanks to Michael for sending me this link!
