eBay Updates... Rover, Alfa Romeo, Yugo

In earlier posts I pointed out some unique cars available on eBay. The bidding has ended for all of them and here are the results:

1987 Yugo. The high bid was $995.00, which didn't meet the reserve. $995.00 seems pretty reasonable to me for a 1987 Yugo with a salvage title. I don't know what the reserve was, but if it was my car I'd have taken the $995.00

1992 Alfa Romeo 164. This did not sell for the high bid of $1675.00. $1675.00 is pretty cheap and I don't blame the dealer for not selling it at that price. $2000.00 to $2500.00 was probably a reasonable price given the condition of the car.

1980 Rover 3500 (SD1). This too, did not sell. The high bid was $2025.00, which didn't meet the reserve. The "Buy It Now" price was $3500.00. This is a tough call. If it is truly a rust free car with only 86,000 miles on it, it is an extremely rare find in the U.S.. BUT, there are not many people who want one of these cars. In the past, many of these cars were purchased simply for their engines which were used to turn MGBs in MGBV8s or for turning a Triumph TR7 into a TR8. (Which I hope was not the intention of any of the bidders on this car. From its description it seemed too nice to part out.) $3500.00 seems pretty high. $2500 seems more reasonable to me.

Don't forget, if you see a unique car for sale on eBay or locally, send it to Just A Car Geek. All submissions will be considered.
