Great Pictures / MG Rover Longbridge

After being unsuccessful at finding a buyer or last minute financing, the owners of Rover / MG filed for receivership in April, 2005, and closed the Longbridge, Birmingham, UK, factory. This factory had been open for 100 years.

At some point after its closure a man named Michael Scott (Photo Addiction) went inside (without permission) and took pictures. The pictures are stunning in both an artistic sense and in showing just how swift the closure of the Longbridge plant was. You see cars still on the assembly line, former workers personal effects and more. The pictures are sad and brilliant at the same time.

Click here to see the pictures. When you get to the site (ignore the note that says "Photo Addiction Has Moved" - The Longbridge pictures are still on this site) you will see a bunch of links at the top of the page. There are several pages of pictures from Longbridge. The first one is labeled Rover MG - Longbridge*, and then you'll see subsequent links labeled "Rover MG - Longbridge pg2", "Longbridge Day 2" and so on. There are a ton pictures to look at and they're all brilliant. Bookmark his site and check out Scott's other work, too. It's all great stuff!
