There's no really logical reason to want one of these other than they're unique and fun.
Available with both a soft top and a hardtop, one website I saw called it, in soft top form, a "roadster pickup".
From the windshield forward the CJ8 Scrambler was like any other CJ. The standard engine is the 151 cubic inch 4 cylinder, with AMC's 258ci 6 cylinder being an option. The suspension is standard issue CJ too, meaning it has leaf springs all around.

According to the seller this Scrambler has been restored. It looks stock, although the seller says it now has a leather interior. The asking price is not cheap, almost $2000.00 more than the truck cost when new, but when was the last time you saw one of these in this type of condition? It would be a great summer vehicle to take to the beach or the mountains.

The Scrambler is a great old Jeep. I haven't seen one this nice in years.
If I didn't have an XJ and a YJ project going on already I'd buy this in a minute.
Like you said I need a bigger garage and checking account balance. *Sigh*
These things rusted like crazy even in warmer climates. You need to hope that the seller did the body properly in metal.
Not my type of toy but still unusual enough to be interesting.
What a great find! I've never seen one of these before.
