Weekend Quickies

1982 Volkswagen Porsche Powered Van - I'm not a huge fan of the VW van in any form, air-cooled or water-cooled. But every now and then one comes along that makes me think, "Hmmmm, that could be interesting." In September I wrote about one with an Audi Turbo engine stuffed in it. That was really cool. Way back in January I wrote about one that sat on a Porsche 933 Bi-Turbo platform. That was completely insane. Impressive as hell, but completely insane.

This is another one that makes me go "Hmmmm...". This 1982 VW van has a Porsche Carrera 3.2 drivetrain in it. It appears to be a camper and needs finishing. According to the seller it runs and drives.

If I had to make a choice I'd probably take the Audi powered VW, just because it's more modern and most likely has usable heat (which is important here in New England). This one would run a close second, though.

1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 - From the description, this might be one of the nicest GTVs on the planet.

The seller is looking for top dollar, but if it's everything he says it is, it's probably worth it.

1994 Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione 2 - I have a couple of friends who drive Audis. They brag about their car's performance in inclement weather. I could shut them up and shut them down if I could figure out how to get this car into the country.

Think of this as an Italian S2.

Of course the huge problem with a car like this is getting it into the US. You'll have to spend incredible amounts of money getting it federalized or sneak it in and risk having it seized. In my opinion neither idea is a good one and I'll just wait until 2019 when this car can be legally imported, hassle free.

This car is located in Thornhill, ON, Canada. Click here to see the eBay listing.
