1960 Jaguar Mark II - A Great New England Find...

I just spotted this and want to point it out...

This car has been sitting in a Dedham, MA, garage since "the mid seventies". The last inspection sticker is from 1975.

The Jaguar Mark II is very, very classy car. Jaguar's motto in the 1960s was "grace, pace and space". This car exemplifies that perfectly.

The engine is a 3.8 liter 6, similar to the engine found in the E-Type. (The intake manifold and the carb set up are different.)

There are several amazing things about this car... First of all, it's basically complete. Secondly, it's a 50 year old New England car and it's not a total rust bucket. Thirdly is the price; $2000.00.

This is a great find for someone in the Northeast / New England. A West Coast car in similar condition will most likely cost about the same. But, you won't be able to see it in person and it will cost $1000.00+ to have it shipped cross country. Figure all that in and $2000.00 starts to look like a real bargain. (The interior appears to be the biggest issue with this car and it won't be cheap to bring it back to its original state. New England cars usually have great interiors and rough bodies. West Coast cars usually have the opposite. How this New England car wound up like this is one of life's little mysteries, I guess.)

I have a feeling this car won't be for sale for very long. (I'm hoping it's still listed tomorrow morning when this posts.) If you live in the Northeast / New England and are looking for a nice restoration project, this car is one you should check out.

There is an article in the latest (April 2010) issue of Hemmings' Sports & Exotic Car by David LaChance about a 1961 Mark 2 that someone bought as a "barn find" and has restored to Daily Driver use. Check it out, if you get the chance. I think the owner lives in Massachusetts or at least New England somewhere.
