So, instead of an April Fools Day joke, I present to you this car. Last night, JaCG reader, Steve, sent me a link to a discussion about this car. This is a real car. In its creator's mind it's not a joke. Still, it's perfect for April 1.

Steve found a post on the MyE28.com forum. You can see it here. Someone posted a link on the MyE28.com to site called Nuts & Bolts - The 1AAuto Blog. That site posted a reprint of a pretty extensive Car & Driver article about the car, which you can find here. In doing a little research I discovered that a post on a VWVortex.com forum is what got the folks at 1AAutoblog buzzing about this car. The VWVortex.com post is here. (The post is titled "What the hell did I just see??!")
The car is legitimately registered in Ohio.
To the best of my knowledge, this car is not for sale. Not that it matters. I can't see any reason why you'd want to own it. (Unless you have a serious need for attention.) You have to give it's creator credit for having the vision (that's probably not the right word) and the determination to build it, though.

Definitely check out the Car & Driver article.

Hey look, I wrote the blog you linked to! Sweet!
For what it's worth, I just found this place, but I like your writing! The Ben-Dera Ford is obviously a win as well! Great stuff!
Well then... what a unique car, to put it kindly. Looks-wise, I'd rather have a Honda Accord Crosstour or even an Aztec, but the guy who put it together sounds like a great eccentric.
Oh. My. God. Why?
This is right up there with the ShamRockAway as a classic example of outsider engineering.
Funny thing, rather than being a "joke" art car, the photos immediately conjured up all sorts of car geek references such as the Marzal, Dymaxion, and more. Kinda like real art...
A couple of fuzzy pictures would make a fine basis for a faux conspiracy style article such as THE CAR DETROIT DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT!
Too cool...
is that the taxi used in Total Recall?
WOW I grew up about a mile away from this guy and remember the original white car when new. Back then the rumor was that it was some kind of Beetle based kit, haven't seen it probably 15 years. I can't believe it's still kicking around.
According to the Car and Driver article there were at least two of these things.
