Playing Catch Up... A Citroen, a Volvo and a Singer

Phew. A business "grand opening" - That partially got washed out by rain. I can't understand why musicians with very expensive, very electrical, instruments didn't want to play in a thunderstorm. Wimps ;) - and a weekend bout with the flu - still not done yet - put me way behind on posts. I need to play catch up. So, here goes...

1971 Citroen DS 21 - This has to be one of the nicest DS 21s in North America. Given the overall quality control of all auto manufacturers in the early seventies, this car is probably in nicer condition now than when it was new.

Virtually everything on this car has been replaced or rebuilt.

As I write this there are 5 days left to the eBay auction. This car has 28 bids by 13 separate bidder and is up to $14,000.00. It will be interesting to see what it finally sells for.

1971 Volvo 145 - This could be a pretty good deal for someone. I'm posting it however, because of one line in the listing... "This car was a 1 owner car,Due to bad times the original owner had to sell it and it got passed around 2 other times before ending up with me.... " Uh, aren't most cars "1 owner" cars at some point. This one is now on its 4th owner in my book. Whatever. I'd rather have a car that's had a bunch of caring owners than one that had 1 neglectful owner.

Old Volvos are becoming very sought after cars. This one needs some work, but has had a lot of work done to it. If the price is right, this is a great (easy) summer project.

A big thanks to John for sending me the links to the Citroen and Volvo.

1959 Singer Gazelle - By the time this one was built, the Gazelle was really nothing more than an upscale Hillman Minx. The interior was nicer and it had a different, arguably classier, nose and a few other slight body differences, but underneath it was pure Hillman Minx. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The Minx was a pretty good - but slow - car.

From time to time you'll see a Minx at a British car show, but rarely do you see a Gazelle. This could be a very cool car to restore and bring to shows. Check it out thoroughly though, as they are very prone to rust.

A big thanks to JaCG reader, Clint, for sending me the link to this car.

More to come...

The Citroen owner also has a Mitsu 3000GT. I guess he likes his cars "complex".

Hey, it's nice to see that you've returned. I figured that part of your absence was due to work, but hopefully you'll feel better from the flu soon.

To borrow a quote that someone said when you were gone for a few days due to computer issues, "Good thing that you didn't purchase a Camry and retired from this site".

The cars you posted were nice, too. I hadn't even heard of Singer Gazelle until just now.

Kashgar216 - I think you're right. He probably enjoys having broken cars in his driveway.

Over $17,000 bid now for the Citroen and the reserve is still not met I am scratching my head at looking at this car thinking it may be the most perfect DS in the US and one of the best in the world and yet this guy put a bumper sticker on it?!

Glad to see you back!!!
