2003 Audi A6 Avant - $500.00 - If You Have The Skills, This Could Be A Real Bargain...

Short and to the point... This beautiful Audi A6 Avant is for sale for $500.00.

Of course for that kind of money it isn't perfect. It needs a transmission.

For a long time Audi was known for not using very durable automatic transmissions. (This plagued not just Audi, but all German car manufacturers for awhile) The fact that this one made it to just over 200,000 miles would indicate to me that this car was well taken care of and not abused. (I just sold my automatic 2000 BMW 528iT. It had 278,000 miles on it. The transmission - like the Audi's, not known for its longevity - was still working well. You just never know...)

There are a few things you could do with this car...

The cheap and easy thing to do would be to buy a used transmission. But, given that these transmissions are fragile, how long would it last? You could be doing the same job in 3 months.

You could rebuild the automatic transmission that is in it. But, that is a job that really requires some serious knowledge, skill and patience. You could pay someone to do this. There are a number of places that have the knowledge, skill and patience to do the job, but because of that, they are expensive.

You could change it over to a manual. That will not be cheap or easy, but when you're done, you will have an incredible car.

The bottom line here is, this car is too nice and too cheap to be parted out. Whether in stick or automatic form, someone needs to get this back on the road.
