1984 Renault Rodeo - In The U.S.

Other than a few Alpines that have popped up lately, this is the most expensive modern Renault for sale in the U.S.

The price, I assume, is because of its rarity. This is most likely the only one in the U.S. It is definitely the only one for sale in the U.S.

There isn't a whole lot written about these vehicles. According to Carfolio.com, the engine is Renault's 1098cc 4, which in the Rodeo puts out a whopping 34 horsepower. It weighs just under 1600lbs and is capable of hitting 68MPH.

Except for the body, it appears that all the other parts are straight out of Renault's parts bins. I recognize the instrument cluster as being from a later LeCar (R5) and the wheels as being standard Renault 3 lug wheels.

This is a pretty cool car, although - obviously - not one you would drive everyday.

The ad is really frustrating. There are pictures of a horse, a picture of two girls with the same horse, but no good pictures of the interior or even the front of the car. The pictures of the horse are nice, but - unless it comes with the car (in case of a breakdown, maybe?) - they are irrelevant.

Then there is this... In January, 2017, this very same Rodeo - based on the license plate - was featured on Bring A Trailer. The asking price then was $8,700.00. The price now is $18,000.00. Other than the seller maybe throwing in a horse ;-) I'm not sure why the price has more than doubled in less than 2 years. Was it restored or refreshed? It looks basically the same in the BaT article as it does now.

The horse is better looking than the Renault. Probably faster too.

...and it could probably use the extra horsepower.
