Beautiful 1965 Mustang - 6 Cylinder / 4 Speed

Many people will scoff at this car. In their minds Mustangs need to have a V8. I get that. For the most part, more horsepower equals more fun.

But in 1965 the standard Mustang engine was an inline 6. This car is interesting because while the original owner didn't spring for the V8, he or she did purchase the optional 4 speed manual transmission.

There isn't anything I can say about the Mustang that hasn't been written a billion times before. All I'll say is this is gorgeous car, one I would buy in a heartbeat no matter what engine is in it.

My parents had an MG TC, then a Borgward Isabella wagon, then a Sunbeam Rapier, then it was time for something new. The Rapier tortured them and they wanted something with style but GOOD. It was 1967. My dad was in advertising and sort of a Mad Men type. Mom was the ad-man's perfect wife in Marin County, California. They were teetering on getting a new Mustang. Then they drove it. All I know, and this predates me, but they thought it was garbage. They drove a Volvo 122s and that was the winner. In their opinion, it left the 'stang in the dust. We kept that red, 2-door Volvo in the family for 40 years. no shade to the Mustang which is a fantastic classic Mustang but I love that the "stuffy Swede" beat the brawny American.
